Title IX Regulations Require:

that sponsors of interscholastic and other school-sponsored athletics (such as secondary schools) take actions necessary to overcome the effects of gender discrimination in violation of Title IX. 

The Regulations further require that sponsors of interscholastic and other school-sponsored athletics comply with the Regulations within three years of their effective date, which was July 21, 1975.
